Hearst Castle

Well, for starters, Hearst Castle in San Simeon is BIG. It has 169 rooms!
Mr Hearst himself called this place "La Cuesta Encantada", the Enchanted Hill, or more often just `the ranch.

From the 1920s into the 40s Mr Hearst and (his mistress) Marion Davies adored entertaining a steady stream of the areas biggest names, and invitations were highly coveted (source LP).

Architect Julian Morgan based the main building (seen here) on the design of a Spanish cathedral. Miss Morgan worked with him on the estate for the next decades, and catered to his every design (source LP).

Winston Churchill penned his anti-Nazi essays at Hearst castle in the 1930s.

What a place, I was left speechless!
