Jaisalmer

In India there is the blue city (Jodhpur) and the red city (Jaipur). Jaisalmer is sometimes called the Golden city because the yellow sand and the yellow sandstone used in every architecture of the city gives a yellowish-golden tinge to the city and its surrounding area.

Jaisalmer is named after its founder Maharawal Jaisal Singh, a Rajut king in 1156 AD.
"Jaisalmer" means "the Hill Fort of Jaisal".

I remember the place we stayed overnight had some strange rooms, the walls were "replaced" with carpets and one of the rooms felt like a little grotto with just a small window. The food we could buy at that place though, was amazing. I remember drinking a lot of lassi.
